Since the global pandemic essentially shut the world down in 2020, people were struggling to fulfil their holiday needs, so rather than looking abroad they turned their sights to the UK and when lockdowns allowed took to the sandy beaches of the UK for a good old-fashioned staycation. Figures from the National Caravan Council state that sales of campervans and motorhomes was up nearly 10% in July 2021, when compared to pre-pandemic 2019 figures.

However, with an increase of Campervans and Motorhomes on the roads also comes a number of inexperienced and possibly nervous drivers. Many new van owners won’t have experienced a vehicle that size with some motorhomes stretching more than 7 metres long and over 3 metres tall making manoeuvring such large beasts in the tight country roads and villages of the UK a difficult prospect in itself.

With a safety range to cover 99% of vehicles on the road today we take a look at some of our top safety cameras and accessories that will improve the all-round safety and visibility of your motorhome.

We start off with one of our best-selling universal cameras the CAM-32. This universal surface mounted camera, with a 1099 HD CCD sensor, 560 TV Lines and 0.1 lumen minimum illumination level gives drivers a high-res colour image, even in low light conditions, with the 50/60 fps electronic shutter ensuring a smooth video feed. The CAM-32 is also IP68 rated, meaning it is protected against all standard weather conditions Britain can throw at it and will continue to operate in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees C to +75 degrees C making it a great all-round camera whatever your vehicle.

For those of you that want something a bit more vehicle specific our range of brake light cameras allow you to change your original 3rd break light for and combined camera and brake light in one. We take a look at the CAM-FT6, a product that allows you to retain the vehicles original aesthetics whilst updating your technology with a five in one reversing camera. Designed specially for use with 2006 to 2014 Fiat Ducato X250 vans and 2014 to 2021 Ducato X290 vans, this exciting camera allows use of five different viewing angles including, Birdseye View, Wide Angle Reversing, Reversing View, Left Blindspot and Right Blindspot along with the standard Drivers View.

We have a broad selection of manufacturer specific Dual lens brake light cameras for a whole range of vehicles including the 2006 to 2016 Mercedes Sprinter (CAM-MB8), 2006 to 2016 Volkswagen Crafter (CAM-VW12) and the 2012 to 2021 Ford Transit (CAM-FD13). These excellent cameras give you comfort in your reversing by sending you a clear image of the rear of your vehicle. Featuring a 648×488 resolution and 145 degree viewing angle these cameras offer spectacular assistance when manoeuvring larger vehicles. But also offer a larger view during normal driving conditions due to the second lens and live stream feature.

Similar to our CAM-FT6 our CAM-40 and CAM-42 are multi view cameras that offer various viewing angles to enhance your perspective however these universal cameras are suitable for almost any vehicle. The CAM-40 is a wide-angle universal brake light camera, whereas the CAM-42 is a flush mounted wide view camera. Both cameras feature a resolution of 720 x 480 and a field of view of 210 degrees giving the driver a clear view of the rear of the vehicle. The CAM-40 and CAM-42 also utilise several different camera views to assist the driver in manoeuvres including, Birds eye, wide angle, reversing blind spots and standard driving mode. The cameras are also IP67 rated so are capable of withstanding standard weather events.
